ISLAND ZLARIN

The name of the island probably becomes from its natural beauty as coral is. It was called golden island, green or coral island. Today you ca find here handmade coral jewels. It is one of the islands in Sibenik archipelago that is nearest to the mainland.

The main occupation of first inhabitants was farming, fishing and diving for corals. Today most of the people work in the industry but you can still find some of them who are selling corals. They are working also in tourism because the island become famous tourist destination.

The island is covered by typical Mediterranean plants and trees like pine, olive and grapes. There is a lot of beaches and hidden bays attract many tourists. You can admire beautiful harbour and enjoy swimming in the crystal water. There are also few restaurants where you can taste local specialities.

The island is connected with mainland by a frequent ferries that's why a lot of tourists come here every day. In every moment you can go to Sibenik or Vodice which are in the near.
